science-300x200 Day one - Vancouver to Seattle

This is one of the best days for me, as I started this blog I want you to come with me in the City of Grunge Music. Seattle, Washington, USA.

peace-arch-150x150 Day one - Vancouver to SeattleLike the usual plan get out early in the morning and head to the US/Canada border and like the usual result we get out from bed late, preparation to get out from the house will also take a while. Most likely we left the house at 10:00am, so as we headed to the border, one of our favorite pit stop is to grab out breakfast from McDonald, I really like my egg Mcmuffin.

As we are in the border, like the usual line up and waiting time approximately 1hour the fastest you can experience mostly at the weekend cross border. And if you planning to cross the border this summer and this is your first time I will recommend that you pack a full of patience. A lot of bastard is also crossing the border, what I mean of bastard those are the people who usually cheat on the line up, by using the “Nexus lane” (it’s like a V.I.P. lane) or exit lane, they know a lot of way to cheat and avoid the long wait in the border, and when they are almost in the end of their line they will start to merge in front of you pretending they are from the exit lane or any other stupid reason they expert with.

Passing the border is a total relief. So as we travel we still need to stop at the nearest rest area to unload some liquid from our body and that’s the relief. lol.

tulips-150x150 Day one - Vancouver to SeattleToday is not the ordinary shopping for a day and go back, today we are going to stay for a night and go back on the next day. Our itinerary is not enough for a day, not even for a two days but we need to go back on Sunday night and go back to work on Monday. Usually the first in the list is shopping but not today we are here for the Skagit Tulip Festival which display gardens showcase a variety of tulips. Stroll around at Roozen Gaarde’s 3 acre display garden and the 15 acres of tulips in International Peace Garden.

But as we driving going to the gardens we miss our turn, in short we lost but we keep on driving and follow where all the cars going. Surprisingly we found a better place we never plan. It was very nice place to walk around. La Conner, a charming little American town about 90 miles south from Vancouver. It was founded in the 1860’s, making it the oldest town in Skagit County. La Conner has a number of Victorian-era buildings still in use–Gaches Mansion the “finest house” in town is one.

la connerOver the years La Conner has earned the reputation of being “The Best Tiny Town in Western Washington.” The number of people living there is a testimonial to that–839 as of 2006 Census. Many of these are writers, crafters and artisans like Morris Graves, Guy Anderson, and Mark Tobey were lured by La Conner’s natural beauty and serene pace. You can see their work at The Museum of Northwest Art.

We really fall in love easily on this place, a very romantic place for a couple. Actually we already are planning to go back here just with my wife and me. For me this is not a place for kids they just get bored. lol. After enjoying the scenery and having a good lunch at the Kerstin’s Restaurant we headed straight now to Tulips Gardens. Amazingly scene, it was our third time here and we still love it and enjoy watching the beautiful gardens of tulips and daffodils. Totally a tourist attraction as you can see how many people in the field and how big are those fields filled of people, admiring the flowers.

tulip-field-150x150 Day one - Vancouver to SeattleI think we need to go now, we still need to go shopping and buy some stuff, so the main destination for that –Seattle Premium Outlets at Tulalip, Washington. One of my favorite shops was the DC Shoes, Zoo York, Ecko Unltd, Zumies, and Sony. We are their like around 7:00pm and the store will be close at 9:00pm. Without dinner we need to go shop now or else where not going to finish our shopping.

Shop closed, we are all hungry we must not to go too far from the area, we need to eat now or else the restaurants might be close soon and we need to check-in, we don’t have any reservation. Finally we found a Teriyaki Restaurant which is look famous their, we are the last person they accept to order but they don’t allow us anymore to eat inside, so we eat inside the van and after that we check-in at Best Western Hotel and then we sleep. Goodnight :)
